If you are looking for the best Busan Nakgopsae (spicy octopus, intestines, and shrimp stew), this is honestly where your search ends. While Songjeong might be a bit out of the way for some travelers, Gaemijip Songjeong is an absolute must-visit if your itinerary passes nearby.

As the original home of Nakgopsae, Gaemijip has branches across the city, but quality can vary. The Songjeong branch boasts the highest ratings and best flavor among them, and it’s located just a 5-minute walk from Songjeong Beach—making it ideal to visit before or after Exploring Haedong Yonggungsa Temple or Lotte World Gijang.

Having personally visited over 10 times, you can definitely trust this recommendation!

✨ Inside Gaemijip Songjeong: Seating & Food Guide

Gaemijip Songjeong is located right along the main road, making it very easy to find.

Once you take a seat, a server will come over to take your order.

I highly recommend ordering ‘Nak-Gop-Sae’ (Octopus, Beef Intestines & Shrimp) from the top left of the menu.
You can choose from 3 spice levels—just pronounce them in Korean to order:

Spicy (Hot): “Maep-ge” (맵게)
Less Spicy (Mild): “Deol-maep-ge” (덜맵게)
Regular (Medium): “Bo-tong” (보통)

This portion is for just one person, and the serving size is surprisingly generous!

If you ask for extra rice, they give you a generous portion.
You can say “Bap man-i” (밥 많이) in Korean if you want more rice!

Just leave it covered and let it bring to a boil.

While waiting, you can head over to the self-service bar to get extra side dishes.

At the self-service bar, feel free to grab as much as you’d like.

I love cabbage salad, so I usually refill this about three times!

This is acorn jelly (Dotori-muk), which has a pleasantly bouncy texture and is a very healthy side dish.

Once it cooks for a bit, the staff will come over to stir-fry it for you and let you know when it’s ready to eat.

Doesn’t it look delicious? I went with the medium (regular) spice level, which has just the right kick!

Spoon the stew over your rice and mix it according to your taste. You can mix it all at once, or add a little at a time like I do!

Soft drinks are ₩2,000 and alcoholic drinks are ₩5,000. Pairing it with a cold drink or beer is highly recommended!

If you are driving, Gaemijip Songjeong offers a spacious private parking lot right here, making parking super convenient.

Until I find an even better spot, this remains my absolute favorite Busan Nakgopsae destination!

There is another famous restaurant in Songjeong.
It is a representative local eatery that serves warm noodle soup, dumplings, and Bibimbap.
Since both places are very close, I recommend visiting both if you have enough time.
