If you are looking for a must-visit coastal walking spot in Busan, Dongbaekseom Island (Dongbaek Park) should definitely be at the top of your list.
About Dongbaekseom Island
It is genuinely one of my absolute favorite walking spots in Busan. Located right at the end of Haeundae Beach, it’s a scenic coastal park where lush pine trees, camellia flowers, and breathtaking ocean views come together seamlessly.
Scenic Coastal Trail: A well-paved coastal walking path that offers stunning views of the ocean, Gwangan Bridge, and Haeundae’s skyline.
Historical & Iconic Landmarks: Home to the historic Nurimaru APEC House and the iconic Dongbaekseom Lighthouse, perfect for photos.
Easy & Accessible Walk: A flat, easy-to-walk loop taking about 30 to 45 minutes, making it ideal for visitors of all ages and fitness levels.

✨ Inside Dongbaekseom Island: Highlights & Walking Trail
That island over there is Dongbaekseom Island, our destination for today! I’m planning to take a light cardio walk here while taking in the views. You can also spot The Bay 101 nearby.

There is a hotel right on Dongbaekseom Island called The Westin Josun Busan. It’s an established 5-star hotel, and I plan to stop by later on my way down.

This island has a wonderful walking trail, and this is where the main route begins.

Here is the Dongbaekseom Island trail map. If you follow the yellow paved road, a full loop around the island is exactly 1 km.

Let’s get started!

Time to stretch our legs and start walking!

Spotted a stray cat along the way! It made me so happy.

After walking a short distance, the open sea starts to peek through the trees.

After about 10 minutes of walking, I arrived at the Dongbaekseom Lighthouse.

On the way up, I passed Nurimaru APEC House on the right, which hosted the APEC summit. Unfortunately, I missed the operating hours and couldn’t go inside. However, the views of Gwangan Bridge in the distance were still amazing!

Here is an information sign describing the ocean view. From this point, the path splits into two directions, and I decided to head down toward the coastal trail for my walk.

Just head down toward the coastal boardwalk in the direction where you can see Haeundae Beach and the LCT building.

The afternoon breeze felt so cool and refreshing. Walking along the coastal trail like this really heals your mind.

It’s a coastal cliff view, but no matter how many times I look at it, it’s still so beautiful.

Look at these pretty wildflowers blooming along the path!

Turns out this section is part of the famous Haeparang-gil Trail.

Don’t get too distracted by the gorgeous scenery—be careful not to bump your head on low branches!

The rocks down by the shore were all rounded and so cute.

Walking about 7 minutes past the lighthouse, I came across a small suspension bridge. It was so fun to cross!

Please don’t try diving here—you might end up on the news tomorrow!

Spotted a cute pair of birds!
This path seems like a wonderful place to walk with a partner or family.

Before I knew it, I had walked a full loop around Dongbaekseom Island.

From here, you can head down and walk straight onto the sandy shore of 해운대.

I stepped inside The Westin Josun Busan, the hotel I mentioned earlier, to cool off for a bit.

The lobby seating is open to everyone, so even if you aren’t staying at the hotel, you can comfortably sit down and rest.

You can also order drinks here at the lounge cafe to enjoy.

Thought this space looked really beautiful and stylish.

There’s a flower shop inside the hotel, and I just couldn’t walk past without taking a look.

So many gorgeous, vibrant flowers on display!

I’ll be sure to share a full review of this hotel soon as well!
